I noticed weird sweet nail polish ish smell since my furnace started to run this winter. I had been investigating all the possible causes. But I didn’t even connect this to the new AC installed by McKinley in spring this year, since now the AC is not operating in winter. One day I searched online and was told the sweet smell was very likely from refrigerant leakage of AC. I got an appointment this Tuesday and a technician showed up and told me nothing wrong with the inside unit. He still pumped out the refrigerant to the outside unit and told me that’s all he could do. But the smell was still there. I was so afraid this smell could affect the family’s health especially we have been living in such situation probably since day 1 they installed this for us. You don’t smell it until it’s heated. That’s why we didn’t noticed this until furnace provinced to work. We took a look by ourselves and noticed there was weird oil ish liquid accumulated at the bottom of the coil unit which indicating a leakage. My engineer friend told me there were at least two places insufficient welded, which are defects you could easily see with your eyes. I don’t understand why a coil with obvious defects got installed by Mckinley at my place. And why their technician came and told me nothing wrong. I consulted a professional and he confirmed this was very likely a refrigerant leakage. Even the refrigerant has been pumped out, there could be residual remaining in the coil. That’s why I still smell it. And the crack might at the one of the places insufficient welded. I was so afraid since people said online this could have healthy risks. I sent my daughter to other relatives’ places to sleep. And I called Mckinley again on Friday. They said they would prioritize this. But they could only send somebody next Wednesday, leaving us staying in this uncertain space for another 5 days. I escalated and was able to get an appt for Saturday(today) 2:00PM-4:00PM. However, nobody showed up. I talked to somebody oncall at 4:00pm. She told me she would contact the technician and let the technician call me for ETA, which didn’t happen. I called again at 5:00pm. It might be another lady - The voice was the same. But she said she didn’t talk to me earlier this afternoon. She said they never confirm time frame for weekends/after hours. She has no idea what confirmation message I had received and doesn’t know where I got it from- It sounded like she thought I was lying. She said she didn’t see any appt in the system for me. After I provided more info, she said she could see a ticket for me but no an appointment. Again, I was told she would call the technician and let the technician contact me later. Now it’s 5:40PM. I have been waiting for more than 3.5 hrs without even knowing if somebody will come today or not. Nobody has called me. I just want to get this addressed so I can bring my daughter home. We will also go to do blood work for health check. And, even it’s winter, because of this situation, I have to leave my door and windows open during day time to refresh the air. My neighbours may think I am crazy. And we wear winter jacket at home. Not sure if it’s relevant to this posting of it’s just coincidence. Right after I posted this review, I got called by a technician. Glad he will be here soon to remove the coil.

One day I searched online and was told the sweet smell was very likely from refrigerant leakage of AC. He pumped out the refrigerant to the outside unit in case if there is a crack no more refrigerant will get into the vents. But the smell was still there. I have a 6 month check up done regularly and it’s worth it to avoid being without AC in Miami

If I could give zero stars I would. They were 90 minutes late, stayed for more than an hour trying to upsell, broke our AC then said it would have to wait until Monday. When I called the office they said it was our fault about the AC. I've been with these guys for three years and they have seriously gone downhill now. Avoid.
